During Unit 2: Life Between Wars, we have discussed social, economic, and political transformation that occurred in the US after the conclusion of World War I. Due to these changes, tension emerged between the modernists, or people who were open to a rapidly changing world, and traditionalists, people who coveted small-town life and became nostalgic for "the way things used to be." One way this tension manifested, or appeared, in the 1920s was through the Harlem Renaissance. Today, you will be learning about the Great Migration and Harlem Renaissance, and how traditional folks reacted to this new phenomenon.
